KURB Newsletter November 2025
Let the KURB workshop elves tell you what’s in store for this KURBsmas!
The festive season is upon us, but with KURB, everyday can be Christmas. And the little KURB elves have not been slacking! We’ve been wriggling across the planet over the past month, tinkering away at all facets of KURB: just last week we were entangled at SLUSH, one of the biggest start up events in Europe- wheeling and dealing the KURB wares. Despite that hustle and bustle we managed to push out a heap of new updates on almost a weekly basis. And ON TOP of all that there are heaps of exciting projects we’ve got in store that you can find out more about in this newsletter!
We’ve gutted the entire KURB system last month. One of the biggest changes has been a complete overhaul of our backend system. Moving to technologies which will enable us to serve secondhand designer items faster and smarter, in turn solving our long standing free text search problem and unlocking new ways in which KURB can find clothing for you. Our update system is back in order so now the availability and information of listings on KURB are more reliable than ever. To catalyse this we transferred the system to a server which is magnitudes more powerful than the last. At the pace we’re going I am certain we will outgrow it before too long as we implement more intelligent logic into our system processes but the next transition should be a lot less bumpier.
We’ve also remade many of our frontend elements. Most prominent of all is our landing page where we’ve prioritized throttling users into the core of the KURB magic through a head to toe revision of its layout. The new search bar now allows you to harness the power of the KURB search engine from the get-go, this same search bar can be found in the navigation bar no matter where you are on the platform so you can get thrown right back into the action. The latest drops across independent vendors are now made immediately visible so you can see the latest and greatest items added across the KURB system. Our Staff picks section showcases the KURB teams personal favorite items that we’ve extracted through using the platform over the past week. Most excitingly at all we’ve loaded a batch of 3D models to distract you from the process with the hope of slowly trickling in more.
Another major platform change that has come right in time for christmas has been to the favorites system. Now a single user can have multiple different favorite curations organised with the option of adding some personal flare to each. Avoid the awkward anxieties of guessing what your loved ones want- just check out their wishlist and pick out something you know they’ll love. Alternatively, you can now showcase your curation chops and put together ready ensembles from the over 30 million secondhand designer items available on KURB. The possibilities are endless. Who knows, maybe if you have a particularly sick curation you might see yourself featured on KURB!
The updates don’t stop there. We have tweaked item grid layout and item cards themselves with the goal of streamlining the selection process. As always, if there are any brands or vendors missing from KURB feel free to let us know and we’ll promptly look into adding them. We noticed many of you are missing out on our weekly community newsletter where you can catch the latest happening more closer to the heart of KURB, you can toggle your interest via your user profile. However this is all just scratching the surface of how the technology has changed in the last month.
Next month looks to invite a flurry of technological improvements as well. This rigmarole includes new pages to help you explore the 100s of vendors and brands on KURB and discover exciting new opportunities. Soon your personal profile will become more important than ever as we empower you to add elements such as your social media channels, followed brands and vendors, recently favorited items, overview of favorite curations. This in turn will activate the ability for developing a search feed much more tailored to your personal taste alongside the existing more deterministic search system. If everything goes according to plan this may even be accompanied with an exciting “reversible” way of finding what you’re looking for.
No KURB newsletter is complete without a breakdown of all the news vendors and brands on the platform. In the last month we added brands Emporio Armani, Forme d’expression, Individual Sentiments, Kris van Assche, Toogood and Yang Li and vendors Desire Attire, FELT, Tori, Marcosqrd, 3aem, axis, Erobin, La Roche, Saison Deux, Ascensio Vintage. Please don’t shy away from telling us of vendors and brands you think need a place on KURB.
Our founders: JP and Ali, slipped over the Baltic last week to attend SLUSH 2025. It was our first time at SLUSH and an eye opening opportunity, it felt a bit like a rave given with the same psychological and visual overstimulation. However in difference the exhaustion came from being soaked in such an intensive atmosphere of professional talent and ambition. It really got our gears turning on how we can make a KURB that better serves our user base while also ensuring the longevity of the secondhand designer ecosystem, with some exciting news early next year. There were also other unique revelations from observing what’s happening in general in the European start-up scene but that in itself would be better offered in a thesis rather than a newsletter paragraph. Our big next business event is looking to be at TECH ARENA next year.
I’ve really been locked in an early 2000s rock funk the past month (sorry Stockholm karaoke dive bars) and now sorry to you. If you want to bask in the brain-rot that occupies the space between my ears you can find it in this month’s playlist!
We were a bit late to this once but that’s November (and a bit of December) KURBangelists! I feel like I’ll have the latent energy to do one of these before the year is up but until then merry Christmas! If you’re slacking there’s still over two weeks until Santa wrestles himself into your living room. That’s plenty of time for you to hunt down a bunch of designer goodies for your loved ones, and what better way than using KURB? Please check out our socials and lots of love from the KURB team!
